NAMI Knoxville Welcomes the New Year, Expands Message of Hope, and Announces New Board Leadership

The post-holiday season can be an especially difficult time for many, often marked by increased stress, isolation, and emotional challenges. NAMI Knoxville wants the community to know that help is available and that no one has to face mental health challenges alone.

NAMI Knoxville is the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization. The organization provides free, evidence-based programs and resources including peer-led support groups, family support services, educational classes, advocacy initiatives, and mental health awareness efforts throughout the Knoxville area.

In addition to serving individuals and families across the community, NAMI Knoxville offers specialized support for military members, veterans, first responders, and their families, recognizing the unique mental health needs of those who serve and protect others. All programs are led by trained volunteers with lived experience and are rooted in compassion, confidentiality, and connection.

As part of its continued growth and impact, NAMI Knoxville is also proud to announce its new Board leadership for the upcoming year, strengthening the organization’s ability to serve the community and expand access to mental health resources.
• Board President: Michael Baer
• Vice President: Nicole Craig
• 2nd Vice President: Brandon Styles
• Secretary: Jewell Minnich
• Treasurer: Tyler Janow
• Board Members at Large: Seth Blaine and Margaret Gartlgruber

“These leaders bring a shared passion for mental health advocacy, lived experience, and community service,” said Michael Baer, President of NAMI Knoxville. “Their guidance will help ensure NAMI Knoxville continues to be a trusted, accessible resource for those who need support most.” As the new year begins, NAMI Knoxville encourages anyone struggling—or supporting someone who is—to reach out, get involved, and take advantage of the resources available at no cost.
