BANK OF AMERICA KNOXVILLE RECEIVES AWARD FROM MUSE KNOXVILLE

In April, Muse Knoxville presented Bank of America Knoxville with the

Lifelong Learner Award for its Student Leaders® program. This national initiative by the bank invests in young local change makers, providing high school students with meaningful, paid summer internships at nonprofits equipping them with critical leadership skills and fostering commitment to civic engagement.

“Many of the incredible students in this program once roamed our museum as young children, playing, exploring and Lina Evans (BofA), Allison Comer (Muse), Terry Cline (BofA) and Katie Mixon (Muse)

imagining their futures,” said Allison Comer, executive director for Muse Knoxville. “Now, thanks to Bank of America’s dedication to their development, they return, not just as visitors, but as leaders, ready to give back to their community.”

Since 2004, the Student Leaders® program has been part of the bank’s ongoing commitment to youth employment and economic mobility. Annually, more than 300 community-minded high school juniors and seniors from nearly 100 communities are connected to employment, skills development and service. The students also get to see how nonprofits, governments and businesses collaborate to meet local needs by participating in the national Student Leaders Summit in Washington, D.C. Many of the students use their new-found skills to create more change and improve more lives, with inspiring stories of enthusiasm and commitment.
